Praise for the Day September 4, 2014 Galatians 2:20 And I have been crucified with The Messiah, and from then on I myself have not been living, but The Messiah is living in me, and this that I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of The Son of God, he who has loved us and has given himself for us. Vases. Cups. Water bottles. Pitchers. Bowls. Tubs. Pools. Canteens. All of these hold something. Usually the ‘something’ is liquid, sometimes it is solid, like a food. Each of them are containers made to hold something else. Their usefulness is found in being filled. Each of these containers can hold something helpful or hurtful. A friend of mine has told the story that when he was small, he was in the garage with his father. The dad was distracted by his tasks, not paying attention to the child who was poking in the corners. The little guy found a Coke bottle and took a swig. It wasn’t cola in the bottle. It was gasoline. The days of miracles are still with us because after treatment, my friend suffered no physical scars. His father never got over the trauma, however. Later in life, when his memory of everything else had vanished, the father still remembered that event. My friend went to the hospital bed of his father. The dad’s eyes opened, focused on the now grown child and said, ‘You drank the gas.’ He couldn’t remember the child’s name but he remembered the terror. People. We are all filled with something. Horror movies depict people being possessed by spirit. They are inside the person. We talk of being filled with Christ, he lives inside us. That means we are empty of everything else. You can’t have gas and cola in the same bottle. The gas will taint the cola making it poisonous. Pour out the poison, cleanse the bottle, put in the good stuff. Pour out the sin, cleanse the spirit, put in Christ. Toby Mac has a better way to say it. godtube/watch/?v=0J91MJNU
