Pray ACTS 5 as Dr Ken Hovind ASKS GODS SERVANTS, GODS PEOPLE, STEP UP AND BE COUNTED!!!! The government is trying to frame him more for 8 - 12 years lets all pray for him. PRAY ACT 5 1. THEY PRAYED FOR GOD’S PRESENCE TO BE MADE KNOWN Herod the King, the grandson of Herod the Great, in fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy in Matthew 20:20–23 had killed James, the brother of John, and now had imprisoned Peter. (We understand that God always fulfills His Word.) Peter now finds himself in what we would call a maximum-security prison. Acts 12:4 tells us that there were four sets of four soldiers guarding him. Two soldiers were physically chained to each side of his body so that they would be aware of any movement Peter made. The other soldiers stood guard at the door of his cell and at the door of the prison. Do you think Herod realized that Peter had the power of God upon him? Herod is doing everything he can to make it humanly impossible for Peter to escape. The Greek word for used for prison in Acts 12:7, oikema, simply means “dwelling.” I don’t know that you and I would have chosen a prison cell as our dwelling place. But God made His presence known there through an angel. In Hebrews 1:14, the Bible says, “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” Angels are unable to taste of the grace of God as it pertains to our salvation through Jesus Christ. But they have a very important, critical role that relates to every one of us who has put his faith and trust in Jesus. Angels come to minister to us when we are in a “prison”—a difficult situation. It is a joy to know that we can call upon God to make His presence known. 2. THEY PRAYED FOR GOD’S PROTECTION Acts 12:5 says, “Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.” The phrase “without ceasing” comes from a word which means “intense prayer.” It was not a casual prayer. In Luke 22:39–44 we find the type of prayer in which this church had engaged so that God’s protection as well as His presence would be made manifest to Peter in this extremely difficult time. Verse 44 says, “And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” The phrase “without ceasing” in Acts 12:5 comes from the same Greek word that is translated “earnestly” in Luke 22:44. These are the only two times this word is used in the Scriptures. This word comes from a medical term which refers to stretching a muscle to its limits. This church—gathered together understanding that Herod would have no greater pleasure than killing Peter—earnestly prayed for his protection. If only we would embrace the same attitude and spirit when praying for those we know with tremendous needs. 3. THEY PRAYED FOR GOD’S POWER Acts 12:7 gives us the answer to the prayer, “And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.” Keep in mind that Peter had a soldier on either side of him. Yet, Peter was sound asleep! Are we that confident in the power of our God? He tells us in 1 Peter 5:7 to cast all our cares upon Him. We can confidently give Him complete control of all that happens in our lives because we know that He cares for us as His children. So, when interceding for others in prayer, it is important that we pray for God’s protection, for God’s presence to be made manifest in their lives, and for their awareness of God’s power through that manifestation. One of the devil’s greatest tools is to hinder us from reading God’s Word so that we do not learn of the promises made to us in His Word. When we are separated from the Word of God, we can find ourselves without hope. Being in the Word, and reflecting on the promises of a God who cannot lie causes us to see the power of God at work in our lives and to see Him answering our prayers for others. https://youtube/watch?v=g-YAbQbpxV0
