Prayer For 3/14/14 Deep Reflections Genesis 1:26-Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; One of my favorite movies ever is The Lion King. Arguably, the biggest theme of the film is Identity. Its amazing how much your identity shapes your course of life. In the movie, Simbas father, Mufusa was killed and after Simba was guilted into accepting blame for his fathers death by Scar, Simba ran away and was gone from his homeland for years. Because of his past, Simba had lost sight of who he was. He was the son of the King. Sounds very similar to the walk with God. The past is often full of mistakes and it can leave us wounded, so much so that we run away from God and our calling. We may forget who we are and who our Father really is. But, sometimes all it takes is a Rafiki to show us again. Rafiki told Simba that his father was alive, though Simba wouldnt believe it. So he took Simba to a pond and had him look at the water. Initially, Simba was discouraged because he could only see himself, the failure. But, when he looked deeper, He saw his Father, who he was made in the image of. Then His Father spoke to Him saying You have forgotten who you are and so have forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle of Life. How many of us are afraid to take our place in Gods will because we cant see past ourselves? Remember who lives inside of you again. You are a child/heir of the King. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
