Prayer comes before everything but prayer IS NOT EVERYTHING. If the house is to be built, we must toil. Few things are done by prayer alone. There is often an emphasis placed on prayer that suggest that all we have to do is pray and believe and God will do the rest. Joshua was noted for his great faith but he had to fight. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. The builders must build. We must go. We must preach the gospel. Spiritual warfare is impossible without the Word of God because the word is the sword of the spirit and the word must be used in the way intended- it must be proclaimed ( Romans 10:8-15). It is not a magic wand. Waving the bible at Satan or shouting a text only amuses him. It is obedience to the word and preaching the word that worries Hell
