Prayers for our Priest: Local priests receive new posts Diocese Houma/Thibodaux South Louisiana. Published: Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. Houma-Thibodaux’s Catholic bishop, Shelton J. Fabre, announced several changes Monday among priests serving local churches. Local priests receive new posts. All will take effect July 1 They include: Two priests’ retirements : In a letter to the priests, Fabre expressed deep gratitude to Monsignor Frederic J. Brunet and the Rev. Danny Poche’ for their many years of priestly ministry. Brunet, who has served as pastor of St. Joseph Church in Chauvin for the past 42 years, is retiring. A native of Thibodaux, he was ordained June 6, 1960. Poche’, who has been serving as pastor of Holy Cross Church in Morgan City for the past nine years, is also retiring. Poche’, a Houma native, was ordained March 4, 1978. The Rev. Rholando “Rholly” Grecia, associate pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary Church parish in Larose and Sacred Heart Church parish in Cut Off, has been appointed pastor of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Houma for six years. Grecia is a native of Lucena City, Philippines. He was ordained Sept. 8, 1998. The Rev. Clyde Mahler, pastor of Maria Immacolata Church in Houma, has been appointed as pastor of Holy Cross Church parish in Morgan City, for six years. Mahler is a native of Kraemer. He was ordained May 22, 1999. Appointment of seven pastors: The Rev. Charles “Charlie” Perkins, pastor of Holy Rosary Church in Houma, has been appointed pastor of St. Mary’s Nativity Church in Raceland for six years. Perkins, a Thibodaux native, was ordained Feb. 25, 1978. The Rev. Joseph “Joey” Pilola, administrator of Holy Family Church in Grand Caillou, has been appointed pastor of Maria Immacolata Church in Houma for six years. Pilola is a native of Fort Dix, N.J. He was ordained May 30, 1987. The Rev. Wilmer “Willie” Todd, who has been retired since June 2007, has been appointed pastor of St. Joseph Church in Chauvin for six years. Todd, a New Orleans native, was ordained Dec. 21, 1963. The Rev. Mitchel “Mitch” Semar, associate pastor of St. Luke Church in Thibodaux and St. Lucy Church in Houma, has been appointed pastor of these two churches for six years. Semar, a native of Sulphur, was ordained May 26, 2012. The Rev. Mark Toups, administrator of Christ the Redeemer Church in Thibodaux, has been appointed pastor of that parish for six years. He will continue to serve as diocesan director of seminarians. Toups, a Houma native, was ordained May 26, 2001. Two administrators: The Rev. Alexis “Alex” Lazarra, associate pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Cut Off, has been appointed administrator of Holy Family Church in Grand Caillou. Lazarra is a native of Can-Avid, E. Samar, Philippines. He was ordained June 5, 2010. The Rev. Joseph Tregre, associate pastor of Annunziata Church in Houma, has been appointed administrator of St. Joseph Church in Galliano. Tregre, a Houma native, was ordained May 26, 2012. The Rev. John J. Arogyasami, as associate pastor of St. Mary’s Nativity Church in Raceland, has been appointed associate pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Larose and Sacred Heart Church in Cut Off. Three associates : The Rev. Blair Sabaricos, associate pastor of Christ the Redeemer Church in Thibodaux, has been appointed associate pastor of St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux. Sabaricos is a native of Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines. He was ordained April 10, 1991. The Rev. Mario A. Veloso, administrator of St. Joseph Church in Galliano, has been appointed associate pastor of St. Hilary Church in Mathews. Veloso is a native of Maribojoc, Bohol, Philippines. He was ordained April 28, 1990. One priest who has received an advanced studies assignment : The Rev. Eric Leyble, associate pastor of St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux, has been assigned to advanced studies in Canon Law at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Leyble is a native of Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines. He was ordained May 26, 2012.t Off. Arogyasami is a native of Koneripatti, Tamil Nadu, India. He was ordained March 30, 1989.
