Praying In The Wind Because of extensive time spent in the free and open spaces, experiencing the quiet calm, savouring the solidarity of trees, locking eyes with creatures great and small, he could not fathom the thought of a man crying in the wilderness. Sometime it was sun and sometime it was rain, and he had no qualms in either case, knowing the necessity of both, and sometime the wind blew, caressing his skin like a lover, on one of those special days. He reasoned that it took the sun to cause mist to rise, to then later descend as rain, and it took rain to entice the sun, and between them, they caused the land to thrive. As for the wind that blew, caressing his skin, it also took its cue from both the sun and the rain. He prayed. He prayed on days of sun and on days of rain, and when the wind blew, caressing his skin. He prayed out loud, for it dawned on him that, in such case, the wind might well carry his prayer off into the far and distant places and reach the ears of those as yet oblivious or indifferent to the array of entities dancing in the meadows. -Richard Doiron
