Praying for Children at Risk - TopicsExpress

Praying for Children at Risk Why is this important Since the shooting at Sandi Hook there have been 30 other school shooting, I believe this is a barometer of what is happening as segments and individuals are acting out their frustration sense of futility, and social and economic isolation. The flames of this fire are being fanned by things like abuse, anger, prejudice, and our inability to bring resolution to addictive behaviors, mental illness and the socio/economic and political up evils we are facing. While the focus of this work is children at risk the expanse of its reflections are inclusive of society as a whole and the deeply held prejudices, insecurities, fears and inabilities of bringing resolution and emotional and spiritual healing that lays in all of our hearts. While the answer to the vast spectrum of issues being faced by young people are complex involving individual and groups as diverse as the creation itself, the beginning of resolution can start with simply building a bridge and listening to one another realizing that there is often pain, anger and frustration on either side of the fences we live on. Historically it has always been dangerous ground to be peace makers, while attempting to be honest and forth right about our own convictions and beliefs, knowing that those who do not stand for something will fall for everything and find them segregated even from ourselves and our own beliefs. Having said that we need to be upfront about the ground upon which we (The Safety Net Prayer Ministry and Hill Crest Family Services ) seek to craft this unique devotional tool. We believe in the writing, and prayerfully reading will assist in the raising social consciousness and can precipitate peaceful dialogue and interaction within which the Spirit can bring healing to both individuals and society as a whole. Secondly while not wanting to demonize issues, practices, and values of our both culturally and religiously held ideologies we are challenged in live, death, and life style choices that in some case are cancerous and destructive to individuals and society. In compiling this devotional we are asking writers to simply share their stories, and experiences. We are also asking in some cases that writers and specifics be generalized in order to be able to share the story without breaching the confidentiality of students, teachers, social workers, pastors and youth workers. We are also offering this devotional in free down loadable by February 24th from both the Safetynetprayerministry web site and Hill Crest web site and are intended to be share in churches, civic organizations, and your community
