Praying for the children, that are taking their state test today. Which I personally do not believe is effective in determining their intellectual abilities. These test have only suffocated our childrens imagination and their self-esteem. Most of the elected officals in our State or our Capital did not and will not take these test. I dont believe a teachers merit should be determined by these High-stakes test. What really gets me, is that I have done nothing in the past to try and stop it. We all know our education system is out of sorts but sit back and do nothing. 2010 86% 2013 just shy of 78.3% graduration rate. High-stake testing is not used in many other countries. The US student is subject to more testing than any other students in the world. Yet, they are rank low on the worlds educational scale. Our system is narrowly focus on High-stakes testing that leaves little time for true teaching and learning. For teachers to focus on their student and best teach them methods and thinking skills so they can perform in the real world of today. When I started this post I did not intend to write a white paper on US education. I just know that as a taxpayer we pay more per year per student in public education than most countries. The product we are producing is not exceptional. If, anyone can come up with an answers to our educational conundrum, please share.
