Pre-Columbian, North American Civilization was more advanced than our own. How can this be true? The answer is Agro-Forestry, which is an advanced form of environmental engineering. The most important contribution of agro-forestry was that it provided the native people with a distant form of animal husbandry. Unlike the animal husbandry of our current age which encourages deadly pandemics to jump from animal to human, native agro forestry allowed for top predators to naturally cleanse the population of wild game. Furthermore, humans seldom lived in close proximity to their animals. They harvested the forest using small brush fires which drove the game into nets. It was a large-scale community effort. The burnt forest undergrowth increased the alkalinity of the soil, which led to greater harvests each coming year. I believe agro-forestry techniques are essential to future terra-forming on Mars and for the prevention of world-wide outbreaks and pandemics which will continue unless we take bold action. Unfortunately, no-one will understand the gravity of the situation until it is fully upon us. After reading many books on the subject, I am sure that a massive pandemic is inevitable which will throw our civilization into another dark age and bottle-neck our DNA.
