Pre-orders are now available to indie authors for their new releases on kindle. Awesome, I thought, until I figured out the fine print. It takes me about 60 days to write a full draft of my books. Amazon requires that full rough draft before they even set up the pre-order for 90 days before the release date. Meaning my release dates would be a minimum of 5 months apart using this feature, and yet I run on average about 3 months from the day I start a book to the day its ready for release. By Amazons guidelines to set up a pre-order for my next book, The Wrong Sister, Id have to move the release from December 1st (My goal) to February 1st.That so doesnt help me! Pre-orders are a great feature for authors who publish once or twice a year. But for me, this just adds time between releases and would cut into what Im trying to do. So I guess, for now, I stick with my old fashioned wait until my link is ready on release day. I was so excited for about a day until I figured this out.
