Preachers should be very careful about preparing grand and lofty sermons on handling stress and difficulties and being able to keep on keeping on. I just spent a great deal of time on the phone with a technician from a utility (wont say which one / in the words of Dana Carvey and Pres. George H.W. Bush -- wouldnt be prudent!) Anyway --- I think this technician was probably from the border of inner Mongolia / outer Mongolia. Thats fine if youre the Mongolian Stomper. (Anyone remember him???) Not good if youre offering technical support to a customer. When I asked why certain service was not available through his company, he then began to share with me The Parable of the Flashlight. He talked about how those in certain areas of the brightest light receive service while those in areas of the lesser light do not. Powerful! Life-changing moment! Oh well --- life goes on! It should make for a good sermon illustration tomorrow if nothing else. Yes --- preachers are people too!!!!!
