Pregnancy/Healthcare Tip of the Day: Production of digestive - TopicsExpress

Pregnancy/Healthcare Tip of the Day: Production of digestive enzymes (lipases for fat, amylases for starch, and proteolytic enzymes for protein) decreases with age and toxic exposure. Enzymes are involved in many bodily functions, and are key to the ability to break down nutrients, to fight inflammation, and to fight illness (including cancer). Some food allergies are caused by a lack of enzymes (Lactose for milk digestion.) Many raw fruits and vegetables naturally contain enzymes, but cooked and processed foods do not. Consider increasing consumption of raw fruits and veggies, or supplementing with digestive enzymes if insufficiency is suspected... ~ Devin, MSN
