Premium Traffic Monitor - September 2013 Released 19 November 2013 Key points from our full report on premium and economy travel in September: Premium passenger numbers were up 3.3% in September on a year ago, down on the 8.6% spike in August; Despite this moderation, there have been steady increases in premium travel volumes since the end of Q2; This is consistent with easing downward pressure on premium travel demand over recent months; Business confidence has been improving steadily and the Eurozone has managed to keep recession at bay; Major markets like the North Atlantic have benefited, rising 3.1% in September, above growth so far this year (1.5%); Within Far East premium travel was up a strong 8.9%, as the Chinese economy maintains positive momentum; Growth rates on some routes connected to the Middle East continue to show the seasonal impacts of Ramadan; But performance so far this year remains solid, supported by robust expansion of Gulf economies; The outlook for air travel markets continues to improve, alongside improvements in the business environment; Business activity is now increasing at the fastest pace since mid-2011 and rising export orders signal growth in trade; A downside risk is the fragility of the Eurozone recovery, with economic growth in Q3 slowing compared to Q2.
