Prepare for rant in 3, 2, 1... I have attempted to not respond to this for some time but my BS meter is in the red! Under no circumstance would it be morally, ethically, or legally acceptable for anyone to be refused EMS services for their ethnicity or romantic status. First of all there is no check box labeled gay on a patient survey because in those critical moments it doesnt matter. Air goes in and out blood goes around and around (inside the body) variations of this are a problem. This proposal would allow the providers of services to refuse to perform services that they find morally inconsistent with their religious views. This would mean no lawsuits for bakers not making gay wedding cakes and clergy not being forced to conduct gay weddings. I pick these topics as there as been recent media coverage. I support this concept. I believe that government should dictate with whom business is conducted. In this economy if you want to refuse my money because Im fat or a friends because he or she is gay then go ahead. This will expose bigots and racists so we will know who we are supporting with our consumer dollars. This will expose those who reach too far. I dont want to give my hard earned cash to someone who hates me. Why force business to do this? To prove a point? That would be like me force feeding venison to a vegan. I doubt the experience would shift their view on hunting and eating meat. You cant legislate a change of opinion or values. If your cause is just others will follow and business who discriminate will fail. Funny how some liberals view religion as a problem when it doesnt fit their agenda. During the draft days they refused to serve in droves citing conflict with religious principles. Government intrusion into personal religious practice is one of the reasons for the founding of our nation and still a reason that many flock to our shores. We should not be limiting its practice to satisfy public opinion. Kudos to the author. This person has a knack for spin. Instead of attacking the issue head on they pulled this pice of crap out of their colon. How will we ever be able to have an honest debate over issues when stuff like this has everyone seeing red? Please look into this and think for yourself before fueling this fire.
