Prepare yourself. Its Time For David Blaine. Street Magic. Leonardo Dicaprio: Remember when you did magic for me for the first time? David Blaine: Yea, at some party? Leonardo Dicaprio: Yea. When you did magic to me, you know, at that party, it was right in front of my my face. It was, you know, one on one. I couldnt help but be interested again. So, why are you now doing a T.V. special? Im mean, Im curious. How do you think your stuff is going to translate? Its so different than whats been done before… David Blaine: I dont work with fancy props. Theres no beautiful show girls. Theres no elaborate sets. I work with people. It makes the magic spontaneous. You know, its like, everybodys trying to do the next biggest special effect. I mean, it gets bigger and bigger. I mean, whens it gonna stop? Leonardo Dicaprio: So, do people ever think youre just some freak when you come up and do magic to them, or are they always really responsive? David Blaine: No. Sometimes Ill walk up to somebody, just be like, Can I show you something? and they wont know what Im gonna do, so theyll just be like, Get out of here, I dont wanna see it. Leonardo Dicaprio: What kind of an influence did youre mom have on your magic? David Blaine: Entirely everything. She gave me the confidence to believe that whatever I was doing was O.K. I mean, most parents sometimes can say, Oh thats silly, I dont wanna see it. My mother loved what I was doing, so it just made me become the best at it.
