“Present NC-Cong regime ignored Sikhs, KPs” Mufti promises due representation to all every section of society R S Pura, November 9: Regretting that present National Conference-Congress regime has failed to give representation to all religious and ethnic minorities of the State, patron of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today reiterated his commitment that his party would give adequate representation to all sections of the society so as to politically empower all communities including religious minorities. Addressing an impressive public meeting in this border town in support of party candidates Trilok Singh Bajwa for Suchetgarh and Bhushan Dogra for R S Pura assembly segments, Mufti took the present coalition regime to task for completely ignoring religious minorities like Sikhs and Kashmiri Pandits during the last six years. “In a democracy, all religious, ethnic and linguistic groups should be part of the composition of the government so that no section of the society should feel ignored and neglected”, he observed but added that Sikhs and Kashmiri Pandit communities were marginalized by the present regime. “Jammu and Kashmir is like mini India where every community resides so aspirations to every religious, linguistic and ethnic should be addressed by empowering these groups”, Mufti argued, adding, “Democracy could be made vibrant only by involving every section of the society in the decision making process”. While assuring to rectify the mistakes committed by the present regime, Mufti promised to give due representation to the Sikhs and Kashmir Pandits, if voted to power, in the next government. “We will fulfill all promises and commitments we are making with the people”, he said and reminded the people that during PDP led regime adequate representation was given to every sections of the society. He especially mentioned that Sikhs and KP were given due representation in the government as well as in the Legislature. “During our two days tour Gool-Arnas and Gulabgarh assembly segments, we observed that people from every section of the society have come forward to support PDP”, he said and said that he has also promised at Arnas that representation to a member from Hindu minority would be given from Gool-Arnas and Gulabgarh areas in the Legislative Council, if PDP candidates emerged victorious from that two segments. Mufti said that PDP will work to ensure adequate representation of minorities in all public positions to empower all communities. “We have appeal to all our friends from minority community in mountainous region of Reasi to support the PDP so that we can fulfill promises made by them”, he said, adding, “We are committed to set a new system in J&K where every section would be politically empowered”. Taking a dig at NC-Congress regime for making cruel joke with refugees by approving a package at the fag end of the government, Mufti assured that PDP would take a concrete for on-time settlement of problems of refugees. Pointing towards problems being faced by the residents of border areas, Mufti promised that PDP would conduct on spot recruitment camps in the border areas. “We will not adopt pick and choose policies like present regime to conduct on spot recruitment. We will give priority to the deserving areas”, he assured and reminded that during PDP led regime government reached to the door steps of border people to address their grievances. “You are the worst victim of the hostility between India and Pakistan”, he told border people while regretted recent loss of lives and properties in recent border skirmishes. “Through its peace and reconciliatory policies PDP would take effective steps to ensure restoration of lasting peace on the borders”, he said and reminded the gathering it was only during PDP led regime that there was complete calm on the borders from Kathua to Kargil. “We will aggressively pursue pro-peace agenda so that border residents live peacefully”, he said. Speaking on the occasion, PDP candidate for Suchetgarh assembly segment, Trilok Singh Bajwa sought support of the people to establish a new system in J&K. “During the last six years, this government has done nothing to solve problems of the people”, he said and asked people to strengthen hands of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for the bright future of their coming generation. In the presence of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, senior of the BSP, Choudhary Shamsher Singh, Cong leader Vijay Chib with hundreds of his supporters joined PDP. Choudhary Shamsher Singh, a prominent political figure of Jammu, had contested last assembly election from Gandhi Nagar assembly and got good number of votes. Sr leader S Rangil Singh, Yuvraj Vikramaditya, Media Advisor Nayeema Mehjoor, Fallail Singh, Candidate for R S Pura Bhushan Lal Dogra, Ch Chunni, Baldev Singh Pappa, Satpal Charak, S Gumeet Singh and oathers also addressed the gathering.
