***Preserving Your Generation (Part 2)*** RESTORING AN ACCURSED GENERATION Joshua 7:10-26. When Achan stole some things from Jericho and made Israel an accursed nation, God gave Joshua the secret for restoration. He told Joshua, “…sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.” Notice the first statement “sanctify the people”. God instructed Joshua that the first thing to do when restoring an accursed generation is to be sanctified. In fact, sin is a barrier to the restoration process. You must first of all abstain from all kinds of sins and sanctify yourself, before trying to restore an accursed generation. After sanctification, the next instruction God gave was “…therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which the LORD taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which the LORD shall take shall come by households; and the household which the LORD shall take shall come man by man.”. From this instruction, we can see that after sanctification, the generation must be searched thoroughly to ascertain where or what the accursed thing is. But within this verse 14, notice the statement, “…the tribe which the LORD taketh… ”. This means that God knows the accursed thing in every generation; He shall also reveal it to us. So when you are trying to discover the accursed thing in your family or generation, you don’t just sit down and relax, or look for carnal security men to come and search your house; that would be a fruitless exercise. You must consult God through fasting and prayers. You must pray that God should reveal all the abnormalities and accursed materials in your generation. Your human wisdom will not help at this time; it will only take God’s divine mercy and grace to open your eyes to see it. Remember, the first thing is sanctification; total abstinence from sin and surrendering to Jesus Christ. Then you have to prayerfully consult God to reveal the accursed thing to you. God can open your eyes to see what transpired many years ago. God can reveal deep and secret things to you. Jer. 33:3 “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”. It doesn’t matter what has gone wrong in your generation, God can show you everything. Most times, He will reveal it to you in dreams. Consider Joseph and Daniel, who saw deep secrets and interpreted dreams accurately. Revelations and dreams are powerful. When you consult God with all seriousness and sincerity, He will reveal deep things to you and you shall gradually restore your generation from unknown powers and forces and claim the victory at last.
