President M7 does not scary me- Hon. Wilfred Niwagaba Ndorwa East MP Mr Wilfred Niwagaba has said he is ready to contest and retain his seat in next year’s general elections despite President Museveni asking voters to dump him. The MP said at the weekend he was not surprised to hear President Museveni asking voters to punish him in the next election because they have competing political ideas. “I am ready to contest and retain my parliamentary seat come 2016 general elections because my voters are extremely happy with the way I legislate for them. I will consult my voters on which party ticket I should contest on,” Mr Niwagaba, who was elected on an NRM ticket, stated. The MP said he would not succumb to intimidation. “I don’t fear intimidation from any human being, I fear the almighty God who created me and I respect the people in my constituency because they like and support my political programmes,” Mr Niwagaba said. ADVERTISEMENT He added that he will continue speaking and advocating for proper service delivery at local and national levels despite the pressure from government agents trying to silence him. Mr Niwagaba, who is serving a second term as the area MP, said he is not responsible for the poor service delivery if any, as alleged. He said President Museveni has been in power for the last 30 years but there are still several challenges of service delivery country wide. Residents have expressed support to Mr Niwagaba’s politics. “Mr Niwagaba is a good legislator that should be supported by all Ugandans if we are to get good laws in Parliament. If President Museveni says Mr Niwagaba has failed service delivery in Ndorwa East constituency, what has he done as an alternative to help his people since they are his voters too?” Mr Moses Makanga, a resident, said. While on a wealth creation tour in Kabale District last Wednesday President Museveni said Mr Nuwagaba is a disruptive legislator. “Your MP Wilfred Niwagaba disrupts and delays government programmes thinking that he is punishing us, forgetting that he is punishing you, his voters. Punish him politically so that development can come your way,” Mr Museveni said at Kabale Stadium. [email protected]
