President Obama claims his planned amnesty of millions of illegal immigrants will be a net plus to the economy. But Heritage Foundation analysts beg to differ. They say the people affected have an average 10th grade education level. That means they won’t make enough money or pay enough taxes to offset the federal benefits they’ll receive if they become legal residents, then citizens. Heritage estimates the cost of Obama’s plan at $40 billion a year. They say that’s the equivalent of a 30-cent per gallon tax on gas, or a $10-a-month fee on every cell phone, or a $22,000 penalty on every graduate with a four-year college degree. Considering who will eventually end up paying the taxes to cover it, it’s exactly like a $22,000 penalty on every college graduate.
