President Sata Congratulates COSAFA Champions Chipolopolo President Michael Sata has congratulated the Zambia national soccer team on their being crowned champions of the COSAFA Castle Cup for a record fourth time. In his congratulatory message to the team, the Head of State said the victory attained on home turf gives him great pride and reinvigorates his desire to invest even more in sports especially football. The President said he understands the challenges of winning a football match and saluted the boys for upstaging Zimbabwe 2-0 in the 2013 final at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday. He said the team worked very hard to overcome formidable opponents who were equally eyeing the trophy in the championship competed for by 14 countries. President Sata said the team’s triumph is an inspiration to the whole nation and a demonstration that when you work hard as a united force, victory is certain. The Head of State said he was particularly happy that within a year of inaugurating the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, the Chipolopolo had delivered a trophy. “I am glad you did not disappoint as you delivered the trophy in style,” the President said. He advised the team to remain focussed and aim for even greater success in the competitive world of football, saying“impossible is nothing”. The President said football infrastructure were part of his Government’s massive development programmes across the country. “In my Government’s continued efforts to help develop football, we decided to host the regional championship and I am more than satisfied that it was worth the investment,” the President said.
