Press Release: On October 12, 2013 at approximately 10:30 p.m. the Dawson County Sheriffs Office was notified of a trespassing and shots fired complaint at a rural Gothenburg location. Upon officers arrival, the initial investigation reveals that a female subject was contacted in the driveway of a nearby residence and she stated that a male subject had been shout and was in a cornfield. Shortly thereafter, Dawson County Sheriffs Deputies assisted by officers of Gothenburg Police Department, located in the cornfield was Patrick M Hollis, age 47, of rural Gothenburg, Nebraska who had suffered a gunshort wound to lower left side. Information was gained through the investigation that unknown male subjects had fled into the cornfield. The Nebraska State Patrol Air Wing division assisted in the search for these unknown subjects. The search revealed no other suspects in the cornfield. Patrick M. Hollis was transported by the Gothenburg Fire & Rescue to the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital, where he was later transferred to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska via ground unit. This investigation is ongoing by the Dawson County Sheriffs Office. Gary W. Reiber
