Press Release Rutland City Police Department On July 22, 2013, at approximately 5:17 Pm, Officers from the Rutland City Police Department responded to a reported domestic disturbance taking place in a parking lot, located on Summer Street, in Rutland City. The initial caller states they were in a red truck. Another caller advises things were getting loud, and then numerous calls’s reporting a weapon had been discharged. As officers arrived in the area, they were directed to a red pick- up truck parked in a parking lot on Grove Street. Officers arrived and identified an individual who acknowledged and fully co-operated with police that he was involved in the incident on Summer Street. He further voluntarily surrendered a 40 Caliber Semi-Automatic handgun used in the incident. The individual further showed injuries to his face, head and hands consistent with being assaulted himself. He denied the incident was a domestic situation and was in fact him being assaulted and robbed. The female individual may have an injury to her hand from the incident and had fled from the location on Summer Street prior to the arrival of police. The incident remains very active, and efforts are being made to locate the female subject. Names of the individuals will be released once more information is completed. Both individual reside outside the Rutland City area.
