Press release Saturday 11 am Sydney MUNDINE SQUARES UP TO RICKY HATTON IN SYDNEY SHOWDOWN. Two of the toughest guys in boxing will be going head-to-head at a special news conference at 11 a.m. this Saturday, November 1, at The Kirribilli Club, 11 Harbourview Crescent, Lavender Bay, NSW 2060. Three times world champion Anthony Mundine - never short of something to say - is in top shape to fend off an expected verbal battering from UK boxing legend Ricky The Hitman Hatton ahead of the much-anticipated fight of the year in Australia against current WBC silver light middleweight champ Sergey Rabchenko. TO INTERVIEW ANTHONY MUNDINE, RICKY HATTON, CORY PATERSON , LUCAS “BIG DADDY “ BROWNE , JEFF FENECH , SERGEY RABCHENKO , email max@marksonsparks or call Max on 0412501601 Retired champ Hatton, now a promoter in Britain, is the manager and mentor of undefeated knockout specialist Rabchanko and will be doing the talking on behalf of his young Belarusian protege. The fight at Hisense Arena, Melbourne, on November 12, is being described as the veteran in 39-year-old Mundine against the up-and-coming kid in Rabchenko, 28. A confident Hatton, legendary in Australian boxing circles as the man who spectacularly ended the career of our own champion Kostya Tszyu, is backing Rabchenkos prediction that Mundine is going down. Mundine is supremely confident he will be the last man standing and will win the much anticipated near sell-out fight on points. The Mundine/Rabchenko contest represents an all or nothing bid for boxing glory for Mundine, signaling his retirement if he loses. Mundine is confident he can dismantle his baby-faced opponent over 12 rounds. While Rabchenko, unbeaten in 25 fights, predicts an early end by knockout. The winner will earn the mandatory position for the prestigious WBC light middleweight world title, currently held by the five-division world champion and prominent face of boxing – the pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather – stamping their position to enter the famed Mayweather sweepstakes. In Mundine’s corner at Kirribilli, ahead of their much-anticipated near sell out do or die world title eliminator, and available for interview, will be Mundine’s major sponsor Mick Gatto. In addition fight promoter Brian Amatruda, of Big Boxing, will be there to answer any questions. Mundine will also have the support of a couple of homegrown boxers at the media conference. NRL West Tigers star Cory Paterson, who will be making his boxing debut on the undercard in Melbourne, will be present, along with current WBC and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Lucas ‘Big Daddy’ Browne, one of the Top Ten fighters in the world. And Brownes trainer Jeff Fenech. TICKETS are available from ticketek.au and start from $39.95.
