Pretty awesome footage of the racing this past Wednesday evening at Kissena from a fellow racer. As Im hoping to get my cat 3 upgrade in track this year, I went ahead and signed up for the 3/4s for my first visit of the year. I was expecting to be one of the first eliminated. Instead, at around 1:10, you can see me move up to the head of the field where Id end up setting the pace, and chasing down breakaways (a silly thing to do in an elimination race anyway). In this race, the last rider across the line gets eliminated. Tactically, staying where I was is one of the safest places to be. The entire field is behind and to the right of you, all you need is good peripheral vision and strong legs, and you could stay here the whole race. Things start to come apart towards the end of the video. Somehow I lose my place down low on the track (between the white and red lines is called the sprinters lane) I end up taking a lot of wind by being up higher and try to take a rest. A rapidly diminishing field in elimination races makes this a bad idea. I end up trying to sit in behind some folks, and in the sprint for the line, get boxed in. https://youtube/watch?v=dBTiD-CQMiI
