Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the United States, most likely in September, but his first foreign trip will be a lot closer to home - to the tiny Himalayan state of Bhutan.Rather than Washington, Beijing or Tokyo, the 63-year-old premier will first visit Bhutan - a landlocked kingdom sandwiched between India and Chinese Tibet that has a population of less than 1 million. PERFECT DECISION- Bhutan maybe a small Kingdom but strategically a VERY IMPORTANT place. The history of Humankind has been a HISTORY OF WAR and Buffer states between two powerful nations have played a CRUCIAL ROLE in winning or losing the war. Nehru, in his quest to become a WORLD LEADER, totally neglected to STRENGTHEN our own borders first. We paid a heavy price for it. We lost a big chunk of Kashmir within a year of independence in 1948.In 1951, we lost our hold in Tibet and since then the Dalai Lama stays here with thousands other refugees, again in 1962, we lost a large part of Ladakh, we could not consolidate our victory over Pakistan in 1965 or 1971, from the 1990s thanks to Rajeevji, we lost our influence in Sri Lanka, we stood by as King Birendra and his family were brutally massacred and Nepal fell into Maoist hands, becoming a hub for terrorists and fake money, we have not gained foothold in Burma, all in all we are TOTALLY ISOLATED in our own subcontinent.
