Location: Check-in, the event stage, and the start and finish lines will be on West River Drive at the brand-new skate park, right off of Eakins Oval and just southwest of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. You will find a stage and several tents that will lead you to the registration area. Time: Onsite registration and pre-registered check in runs from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. Program begins at 9:00 a.m. Runners step off at 9:20 a.m. Walkers step off at 9:30 a.m. Please note that this reflects a slight change from previous communication. We regret that due to a City issue, we had to expedite our timetable. Parking and Transportation: There will be several other events taking place on Saturday morning in the vicinity of the course, which will severely limit parking. A very limited amount of free spaces are available near the course; these available on a first-come, first-served basis. The course is also accessed by public transit and a short walk from several different bus stops. Please consider carpooling or using public transit and allow extra time to get to the event. Course: The course is a scenic out and back along West River Drive/ Martin Luther King Drive, beginning right off of Eakins Oval, boasting beautiful views of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Boathouse Row, Philadelphia’s skyline, and fall foliage. Runners must turn around at the designated time to have their runs scored. Course marshals and signage will be available to guide your race and to provide mile markers. It is important to remember that walkers will be on the course during your run. Walkers will not be scored and some may be at the finish area upon completing your race. Please be sure to pay attention to course marshals, volunteers, and race staff for any announcements during the race. Runners will be diverted to a separate finish chute in order to be timed. Your race will not receive an official time unless you cross the appropriate start and finish mats. Timing: The course measurement and timing will be conducted by Run the Day Race Management. Runners will be scored using a b-tag, which is affixed to the bib. Runners must secure their bib to their clothing on race day and it must be visible at all times. Runners with obstructed bibs could risk not being timed. The course will close to all runners and walkers at 11:00 a.m. All runners must reach the one mile marker by 10:15 a.m. Those who do not reach the one mile marker by that point will be directed to turn around. Prizes: We are pleased to offer each pre-registered runner a commemorative water bottle. We are grateful to offer gift certificates to Philadelphia Runner – one of our valued race partners – to the top three male and female overall finishers. Other door prizes will be awarded to randomly-selected winners throughout the event. You must be present to win. Course support and refreshments: Water will be available at the turnaround, which is approximately halfway through the race. Refreshments, including snacks and beverages, will be available at the finish area. To minimize waste, runners are encouraged to use the bottle in their race bags or carry their own. Other information: · Runners are not permitted to push strollers or run with dogs along the course. · Runners are discouraged from using personal listening devices. · As this event raises awareness for Domestic Violence, all participants are encouraged to be respectful of areas designated for survivor counseling.
