Princeville man charged with Tarboro Savings robbery Tarboro police detectives arrested 63-year-old Ibrahim Ibn Abu-nidal, alias Mark Allen Jenkins, Thursday night and charged him with robbing Tarboro Savings Bank last Friday. According to Chief Damon Williams, they received a tip about Abu-nidal being a possible suspect, so they executed a search warrant on his 102 Carney St. residence in Princeville and found evidence that linked him to the crime. We got a tip that led us to the suspect, Williams said. We feel confident that we have the right suspect and the evidence we have against him is overwhelming. Police charged Abu-nidal with robbery with dangerous weapon and felony possession of crack cocaine. He was placed in the Edgecombe County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond. Abu-nidal allegedly went into Tarboro Savings Bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of cash and Abu-nidal left in an unknown direction. We had tips start rolling in and had several leads and one of the most reliable tips came in and we zeroed in on him, Williams said. Good investigative work led to a search warrant and that led to further evidence that was found at his location. So we feel pretty confident that he is going to be our suspect. According to Williams, Abu-nidal served 10 years in federal prison for a bank robbery he committed in Fountain. Abu-nidal has a lengthy criminal background that consists mainly of uttering a forged instrument in numerous counties throughout the state.
