Principle Eight puts out a call for us to “yield ourselves to God to be used by Him to bring this good news to others, by our example and through our words.” We started this process after seeing through the veil of denial and placing our trust in our one truer higher power, Jesus Christ. We see a picture of this transformation in others by Paul’s letter to the Church is Ephesus, “Your were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” For God to mold us anew, he had to break us down, strip off the old us with our hurts, hang-ups, and habits so that we can use our new thoughts to shine His light for all to see. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). Our life has been changed so now God is calling us to show others how we were transformed by Him through our journey in Celebrate Recovery. One way to accomplish this is by writing and sharing our testimonies. As we share our strengths and weaknesses to others we can show them that there is hope for change. Changing hearts of others begins with us giving up a piece of ours to them. So what are you waiting for? Yield yourself to God today to help bring hope and transformation to others around you.
