Principles of the Kingdom: Matthew 5v11-12 “Blessed are you - TopicsExpress

Principles of the Kingdom: Matthew 5v11-12 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Most people would tolerate ill-treatment if they have failed to do the right thing or mistakenly stepped on the toes of another person and might even apologize regardless of the ill-treatment meted out to them. Hardly would anyone tolerate such treatment if they have not done anything wrong and even much worse if the things said about them are untrue or has no sound basis. This was the kind of treatment that the Prophets of old went through. They were abused and maltreated because they stood for the truth and would not bulge to conform to the wickedness of the times in which they lived. Naturally, the world would love it’s own but they were not of the world. They were “looking forward to a city with foundations whose architect and builder is God” (Hebrews 11v10). As Christians, people should speak well about us. If anyone should have an occasion to say anything bad about us it should be because we stood for the knowledge of God’s truth. If there should be any persecution against us, it should be because we are holding on to our faith. Let them insult us, let them persecute us and let them speak evil about us but let none of them be for any other reason except “Jesus Christ, and him crucified”! Once we fulfill that part of the scripture which says “rejoice and be exceedingly glad” that part which says, “Great is your reward in heaven” will surely come to pass! That is the way the master went and of course, the way we should also go. By REA Ministries (Christ’s Mission, Christ’s Vision).
