Private investigation - AL SPRS did an investigation at a private residence in Florence, AL. in June of 2004, for a single mother of 4 kids aged 16, 14, 13 (all girls) & a 5 yr. old son respectively. They were renting a typical ranch style home with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen/dining area and a living room. All of this on beautiful hard wood floors. The house was an older one, built in the 1930’s. Your typical middle class home. After I spoke with Joanna, we set up a date to come do a walk through. My sister Reen was my case manager and is a valuable asset to the team. (She is currently the director of SPRS in south Georgia) Reen is very sensitive to spirit and an empath to boot. (Commonly defined as ones ability to recognize, perceive and feel directly the emotion of another.) When we arrived, Reen went up to the house and Joanna met us at the door, inviting us in. Reen entered the home before I did, literally took five steps into the entryway and turned around clutching her chest and made a bee line for the door, telling me quietly as she passed me by… “I have to get out, I can’t breath”. That should have told me right there, that there was something seriously wrong with that place, but I let it go and went to talk to our client. A little while later, Reen rejoined us. The client described the activity in her house as that of a child, a little girl to be exact. She said she has seen her and she looked to be around 6 yrs. in age. She’d been seen most often in the entryway hall. Occasionally she had been seen in the living room by the clients 16 year old daughter. Another claim was that of a “clicking” sound on the hardwood floors, sounding like an animals long toenails, like on a dog or rat. The client had called an exterminator. The man came out and found nothing. No rodents of any kind. Another rather odd claim was of a clock in the entryway hall. On several occasions Joanna noted the clock running counter clockwise. A little while later it was running clockwise again and had only lost a minute of time. One night Joanna came home late from work. She said it was about 11:00 pm. She went to check on her girls and opened the door. All three were sound asleep. She thought it a little odd that the 13 yr old was sleeping in the same bad as the 16 yr old, but figured she had a bad dream or something. She quietly closed the door and checked on her son. He too was sound asleep. The next morning two of the girls came into the kitchen for breakfast and Joanna asked where their sister was and if she was still asleep. Her daughter looked perplexed and said “I don’t know, she spent the night at Carries house, she‘s not home yet.“ Joanna said not a word and left the kitchen, going down the hall, into the girls room. It was empty. That really shook her up. She had seen three girls in their room the night before. Who was the child she’d seen sleeping next to her 16 year old daughter? She went back out to the kitchen and her daughter wanted to know what was wrong. Not wanting to scare the girls, she said she must have been more tired than she thought last night, cause when she checked in on them, she thought she saw all three of them there. The 16 year old never skipped a beat “Oh mom, you must have seen the ghost”. Joanna looked at her sharply, “What ghost is that?” “The ghost of the little girl… I see her in the hallway all the time. Remember when I was sick last week?” Joanna nodded. She didn’t know the girls had seen her too! “When I was sick last week I was coughing and I couldn’t sleep. I was keeping everyone awake so I took my blanket from the bed and laid down on the couch. After a while I was able to sleep, but something woke me up about an hour or so later. I felt something cold on my forehead and something metal against my lips. I thought it was you mom, checking on me.” “No, it wasn’t me” Joanna could barely speak. “I was running a fever, the cold on my forehead felt good. I opened my eyes to say thank you, but I saw a little blond girl, leaning over me. She had one hand on my forehead and the other trying to get me to take something liquid in a spoon. I think I must have passed out cause the next thing I remember, I was waking up with the sun shinning through the windows. I got up to take my blanket back to bed and I saw something... there on the end table, was a bottle of cough syrup and a spoon laying on the floor. Mom I never went into the bathroom or the kitchen to get a spoon. It really freaked me out! I was afraid to tell you, I didn’t think you’d believe me.” Thats when Joanna looked over at me and said. “Right after I got the girls off to school I got on the internet to find someone to help us.” We (SPRS) finished with our readings and planned to do the investigation the following Saturday. When Saturday came, we gathered our equipment and got ready to go. Reen looked up at me from where she was sitting and quietly stated “I don’t want to go back there”. I told her she needed to go, we really needed her there. (I still feel bad about that decision to this day). She did go, albeit reluctantly. I should know by now to heed her warnings when she issues one. June 12th, 2004 we arrived at the clients home around 6:00 pm to start our investigation. It was summer and we still had several good hours of daylight left. We set up our equipment and got right to work while the family watched TV in the living room. As Reen and Tracey (another of my team members) went room to room taking pictures, I decided to go outside and get some shots around the parameter of the house. While I was out there, I had the weirdest feeling of being watched. I kept looking over my shoulder at the neighbors house to see if they were watching me. I didnt see anyone so I shrugged it off as best I could. As I came around the front of the house, I happened to look up at the porch and specifically, at the front door. It was a glass door from top to bottom and as I stood there looking at it, something seemed off . Studying the door, I suddenly realized what it was. The roof of this house has a steep overhang, which gives the porch its shelter and shade. With the position of the sun, the shade was half way down the glass door. The bottom 3 feet was still in the sunlight. At the top of the glass door and almost as wide, was a glowing, bright cream color spot. Kind of like when the sun reflects off something and ricochets onto a completely different surface. I couldnt for the life of me figure out why the sun would be shining there and not on the rest of the door that lay in shadow. I looked to see if the sun was glinting off one of our car bumpers and throwing it back onto the glass, but it was at the wrong angle. I had the weirdest feeling in the pit of my stomach. The “sun spot” on the door was not a steady constant light. It seemed to be undulating and moving. Not understanding what I was seeing, I did what any good investigator would do, I took a picture of it. In fact I took two pictures before going through that very door to go back inside. Had I seen the pictures I had just taken, I probably would have opted to take a differnt door. (See Picture 1 and 2) I had a really bad feeling as I stepped back inside the house. Reen was coming down the hall towards me and I motioned for her to come near, as I didnt want the family members to overhear us. As I stated before, I am not much of a sensitive, unless the energy is really strong and before I really thought about what I what I wanted to say, I said in a hushed whisper… “I know they think there is a child here, but I feel a man… a really ANGRY man.” Reen nodded her head and confirmed what I had been feeling. “Yes, in the little boys room… I think there used to be a fireplace in there… the man used to burn animals in there. Not to eat, but for fun. They suffered.” I literally felt sick to my stomach. Had I seen the photos I had gotten of the man in black looking out the door at me just moments earlier… it would have gone a long way towards explaining my apprehensiveness. Ive done hundreds of investigations and I could count on one hand how many times it felt this bad. A couple hours later into the investigation, the weather turned nasty. Soon we were having hundreds of lightning strikes, loud booming thunder and tornado warnings. As the weather turned from bad to worse, so did my apprehensions. I knew something was going to happen, I just didnt know what, or when, or to whom. I know through the amount of research I have done, that atmospheric conditions can greatly intensify spirit activity. If a spirit during a normal day can not get enough energy to manifest, it may instead, move something, or turn off a light, or something fairly easy. Something that takes less energy to manage then say a full manifestation. With as much energy as there was in the air that night, it could really ramp things up, and that was putting me on edge. The whole house was COLD. It had dropped 20 degrees in the house since the storm had started. The windows were fogged up and condensation was running down the panes. I went to check the thermostat to see what the air was set at and was surprised to find it wasnt even on. I asked Joanna if she had kicked off the air. She shook her head. “No, it’s always cold in here, I rarely ever have to use the air conditioning. It’s really cold in here tonight.” It was indeed. With the storms in the area, it was 78 muggy degrees outside… and 57 cold degrees inside. The family did not have a basement to retreat too, should a tornado dictate it, but they did have a storm shelter out back that looked to be pre-civil war era. Reen is claustrophobic and I’d been down in that shelter the week before on our walk through. Honestly, I’d rather take my chances in the house with Reen. I nodded to Reen to come outside with me… it was so cold in the house it was uncomfortable. The storm had left us for the most part, and we stood down the driveway about 10 ft. from the house. We watched the lightening show as it moved away from us. The rain had stopped and it was almost dark. We talked about the few personal experiences we’d had there thus far, and I still couldnt shake the feeling of apprehension. Reen was standing no further than two feet away from me as we talked about the storm and how we would rather take our chances out here in the driveway than down in that storm shelter, when suddenly I saw Reen literally fly backwards with such force she came out of her shoes! I could not believe what just happened. She was yelling “GET IT OFF ME! GET IT OFF ME!!!” I crouched down beside her as she clutched her face and said “Get WHAT off you Reen? I don’t see anything!” Honestly, I was looking for the worlds biggest bug or something, because I couldnt see what hit her. Still clutching her face, I pulled her hands away and she had a huge red hand print on her nose and cheek. Her eyes where watering from the force of the blow and I was just sure it broke her nose. She literally flew out of her shoes, they were laying a good half a foot away. I could feel the anger welling up inside of me. I am very protective of my loved ones and you hurt them, youd better be prepared to deal with me… yet how do you fight something you can not see? I helped Reen up and I KNEW what had happened. Somehow I KNEW. I could feel it with every fiber of my being. “It was the man from the house, he hit you. He’s mean, hes nasty and he is MAD!” Reen agreed and we slowly made our way back into the house. Somehow, someway, I knew it was over. He had spent the energy he was able to accumulate because of the storm and he was spent. The apprehension was gone. Reen’s face was bruised and swollen, her sinuses stayed messed up for a week. The client, Joanna, looked at Reens face and demanded to know what happened. Reen shrugged and passed it off, and said her sinuses were just messed up, but that she was ok. Reen asked Joanna where it was that she see’s the little girl, and Joanna replied “in the front bedroom where my 16 year old sleeps, and in the front entryway.” Reen and Joanna went into the front bedroom. Reen had already known there was activity in that bedroom, because earlier that night she had reached for the closet door to take a picture, and on the photo she had a large white vortex in it. (See photo 3) Joanna was telling Reen they have trouble with that closet door staying shut. Reen tested the latch, opened and shut it a few times and found nothing wrong with it. They stayed in that bedroom about another twenty minutes. I was in the living room listening to one of Joanna’s daughters telling me of an experience she had, when Reen and Joanna came running out of the bedroom, they were laughing. I asked what happened. Reen said they were in there watching orbs in the room through the camera lens, and it got to the point where they could see them without the camera lens. They could see them with the naked eye. She said it had been going on for 15 minutes when all of the sudden the closet door opened by itself, they were standing just a couple feet away. Reen went outside to sit on the porch, it was still very cold in the house. I checked the thermostat and noted it had come back up to 65, which was better, but it still felt cold. My sinuses were actually running from the cold. I couldnt imagine how bad Reen’s sinuses felt. I felt horrible. Reen knew something was going to happen, that’s why she didnt want to come back to this house, but I insisted. I will regret that decision for the rest of my life. Joanna had gone back to watching a movie with her kids, “A Perfect Storm” by Stephen King. How apropos I thought. I put some new batteries in my camera and took pictures all over the house again. Normally, I check my pictures after 10 taken, but for some reason, that night I did not. I felt drained. I was ready to go home. We stayed several more hours, and then I called the investigation to wrap up at 3:00 am. We quietly collected our gear and packed the trunk. I didnt want to wake Joanna or the kids, so I left her a thank you note and told her we would go over the evidence and then call her to set up a time to show her what we caught. A couple weeks later I had been through all of the evidence, and it was staggering! I’d been going through my photos and had some very interesting shots! The ones of the man in the door was unsettling. That man was there and he was bad. Doing research on the land, we found out the house was actually sitting on the site where a civil war skirmish had taken place. I managed to get a copy of the original blue prints of the house and found there was indeed, a fireplace in the son’s room originally. Reen had been right. Reen also had a picture of a huge vortex from the daughters bedroom, it was so bright it was actually casting a shadow on the closet door. I also had some really disturbing pictures that I, quite frankly, didnt know how I was ever going to present to the family. One photo was of the living room. The family sat there watching TV. Everything in the room look fine, looked normal… everyone and everything, except Joanna. (SEE PICTURES 4 & 5) In the photo, Joanna sits in the corner in an over stuffed chair, a lamp table and lamp to her left, and Joanna has no head. It is completely bazaar. Ive never seen anything like it. I started trying to debunk the photo, rationalizing that the lamp must be blotting out the head, except the lamp is on the FAR side. Joanna has below the shoulder length hair. I should have at least been able to see the outline of her head. At the very least, I should be able to see her hair on the right side, the side that is closest to me… but no, all you see is part of her neck and her head is completely gone. If that is not unsettling enough… there is something with an arm coming out of Joanna’s stomach in the photo. It is REALLY disturbing to me, which is exactly what the “mean spirit of the man” intended. (SEE PHOTOS 6 & 7) The very next photo in the series is also of the living room and Joanna… and in this one, she has her head back, but does not look like herself at all. She has the features of a man, and a skeleton like hand. The thing protruding from her stomach is gone, but now there is a large face on the all white t-shirt she was wearing. A sneering face. I have absolutely no doubt that whatever had been protruding from her stomach had changed it’s form into the sneering face, and I know all of that is “the angry man’s” doing. Some ghosts are shy and try to hide. The nasty and mean ones can and will at times challenge you. This one was most definitely challenging us and had no intention of backing down. He knew why we were there, and he knew if he could frighten us, he could make us leave. That would be a victory for him. It feeds HIM. In that way, he gets stronger. He feeds on fear. Well too bad for HIM. He did not frighten us away. We did not leave in haste after Reen got hit, we left at 3:00am, on our own terms, when we were good and ready. He did not win that battle, and he would NOT win the war, but I was very concerned for this family, living with such a powerful entity. I was happy to see I also caught a photo of the spirit of the little girl trying to form. (SEE PHOTO 8) After going over the evidence, we called to set up an appointment with the client to go over the evidence. I broke it down and showed them what was there. I answered questions and voiced my opinion on what the family should do. The overwhelming evidence was more than a little shocking and disturbing to say the least. After going over everything, the family decided to move, rather than try to live with it or try to get rid of it. I can’t say as I blame them really. They were gone in less than a week after the reveal of evidence. With three teen age girls in residence, that is a lot of energy for an entity to draw from. If the next family who moves in there doesn’t have teenagers, they will probably be alright… but I was very relieved Joanna and family were out of that situation.
