Probably the most common email or Facebook message I get is about advice to write a book. The best advice I could give anyone who has a desire to write a book is this: Every time I write its for at least two hours. (I think it takes that long to get real creative juices going). I put water next to me. And I do not eat while I write. The only reason I let myself get up is to go to the bathroom. Phone off. No internet.. And I just type. And type. And I never stop to read or think. I look just above the keyboard and I dont read a thing till after. Sometimes people say, I take forever to write. I think its because were naturally self critical and we keep erasing and editing and second guessing, so nothing really gets done. Thats why I look ABOVE the screen as much as possible. I just let the stream of consciousness come out in mass. Then I go back through and read it after its written. Its a simple process. Sit down and let your thoughts flow unfiltered. Dont interrupt them to get up or do something else until the flow is completed. Redo the process till you have a first draft of a book! Heres to your dream!!
