In six years, we have grown to serve 135,000 farm families with more than 500 full-time field staff. Job Description: One Acre Fund is a rapidly growing organization; we are seeking an individual to take position in the organization as Procurement Associate. One Acre Fund is looking for young, hardworking, and talented candidates who are committed to making a difference in farmers’ lives. Contract details: Renewable contract subject to performance Candidate Profile Interested Applicants must meet the following criteria and requirements (all of equal importance): • Completion and good results in high school and college • Minimum 1 year work experience in the procurement field or a similar field • Strong work ethic and ability to handle a demanding, high pressure environment • Ability to think strategically to solve challenging problems and requests • Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision • Excellent organizational, customer service, and multi-tasking skills • Strong sense of ethics, honesty and integrity • Strong sense of accountability and responsibility • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong mathematics skills • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint • Familiarity with International and Kenyan Procurement standards and best practices • Willing to work and reside in Bungoma, Western with some possible travel to Nyanza Procurement Associate Roles and Responsibilities • Receive and process purchase requests from various districts and departments in OAF Kenya • Solicit market prices and bids from vendors for approval before order placement • Place purchase orders and follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods and services • Quality check item quality and quantity upon initial receipt of goods • Strategically source goods and services from suppliers from all over Kenya • Update and improve vendor database • Prepare and submit documentation for payment approval and for filing • Take lead on special procurement project such as fleet management and warehouse scouting • Provide administrative support to Procurement Managers • Manage high level of data integrity in Procurement databases • Accurately use procurement tools for soliciting quotations, selecting suppliers, and processing orders • Possibly offer logistical support during One Acre Fund input delivery periods Career Growth and Development: One Acre Fund invests in building management and leadership skills. Team Description: The Inputs Team is responsible for procuring agricultural inputs (seed, fertilizer, solar lights, and other necessary items). This entails working with local and international suppliers to collect price quotes, negotiating to get the best price, ensuring the correct agreements are in place, and that deliveries to our warehouses are made on time. This requires frequent written and verbal communication with our suppliers as well as the various teams within One Acre Fund that we are procuring inputs for. The Inputs team serves One Acre Fund operations in Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and Uganda, so the scope of work is truly international and involves understanding the different needs and available supply in all of these countries. Primary Duties of the Procurement Associate • Work with One Acre Fund operations teams to understand their needs for agricultural inputs, the quantities required and the deadlines for delivery • Maintain a database of local and international suppliers and understand which inputs they carry • Reach out to suppliers to get price quotations and negotiate best possible price • Develop and maintain templates for purchase orders, contracts, and other required documents • Work with suppliers to sign contracts and place orders • Work with One Acre Fund finance team to ensure that suppliers are paid on time • Follow up with suppliers to ensure that deliveries are made timely • Occasionally provide support on working with clearing agents and insurance companies • Constantly look out for new sources of supply and way to decrease the costs of agricultural inputs for One Acre Fund • Provide general support to Inputs Team Manager If you have skills and experience in the areas above please highlight them on your cover letter and resume. Qualifications • We are seeking professionals with 1-2 years of work experience, preferably in procurement. • We are looking for extraordinary candidates that are organized and proactive. Experience • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar position; • Specialist knowledge and diverse experience in procurement and supply chain management; and • Knowledge of PPOA procedures and guidelines Skills and Competences • Ability to communicate both inside and outside the organization • Ability to write complex reports • Analytical skills • Organization and inter personal skills • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and multi task.
