Prof. Haspel is leading the effort to report the space problem of CS Department to the University. If you have any additional input for the text below, please let us know *today*. Student space: The PC lab (AKA Unix lab, S-3-158) is where students can study and do their homework. The number of PCs in the lab is nowhere near meeting the needs of our current student body. Here is a video posted in Feb. 2013 by Kevin Amaral, one of the PhD students in our department, showing the Unix lab on a typical day at over 100% capacity: https://facebook/video.php?v=10200264552729591&permPage=1 (this link is publicly visible). Notice that since Feb. 2013 our enrolment increased further. Many students rely on the PCs in the lab to do their homework but often cannot find a PC to work on. Students also report levels of noise that make it difficult for them to concentrate, as well as network problems due to overloading. Everyone please take note and email Professor Haspel with grievances or pleas involving the Unix Lab space issue.
