Prof. Longmas Wapmuk sacked by FG There’s uncertainty at the Industrial Training Fund in Jos following the sacking of the Director General, Prof. Longmas Wapmuk. Wapmuk was unceremoniously removed on Friday by the Federal Government barely three months to the expiration of his second term in office. He was due to retire in August. He is to be replaced by a member of the governing council of ITF, Mrs. Juliet Chukkas-Onayeko . No reason was however given for Wapmuk’s sudden removal, but inside sources said that it might likely be connected with his aspiration to contest the 2015 governorship election in Plateau State. However as the new DG assumes duty on Monday, there are fears that there could be sweeping changes in the organisation. Staff in various departments are awaiting what the new direction the new DG would take with trepidation. Wapmuk has recently been enmeshed in controversy over his sacking of a director, Mr. Joe Bitrus. Bitrus was believed to have been sacked after some posters of his were seen on the streets of Jos apparently announcing his candidature for an elective position in the 2011 general elections under a yet to be declared political party. The aggrieved director was said to have petitioned the National Assembly whereby after painstaking investigation, the Senate ordered Wapmuk to reinstate the director. It was not known if the directive of the Senate had been carried out or if his sacking was as a fallout of that action.
