Prof. Talat inaugurates IRTPLAregional training programme Srinagar, June 19: With an aim to expedite the process of Library Automation in the State of Jammu and Kashmir Allama Iqbal Library, Kashmir University on Wednesday started a five day INFLIBNET Regional Training Programme in Library Automation (IRTPLA) for library professionals. The programme has been started in collaboration with Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET), Gandhinagar, Gujarat which began here at KU on Tuesday. While inaugurating the training program Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof Talat said that the process of automation is the need of the hour in the libraries all over the world “as people today prefer to access the research material, journals and books on-line” “There is a great need for updating and expediting the process of automation in our libraries as the problem of housing the ever increasing number of books, journals and research material is being faced by library professionals and educational institutions allover the world due to space constraints and our case is no different,” said Prof Talat. He appreciated the efforts of the Allama Iqbal Library staff for providing various facilities in the form of consultancy services and training programmes to other libraries of the State.
