Professor B.S. Ghuman, Department of Public Administration and Former Dean, Faculty of Arts, Panjab University, Chandigarh has been appointed as Adjunct Faculty by University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. The communication received from Dr. Mark D. Evered, President and Vice-Chancellor of UFV says that this is an honorary, non-remunerative academic appointment in recognition of Professor Ghuman’s qualifications, expertise and potential to contribute to the academic mission of UFV’s teaching and research programmes. The appointment is for a period of three years which is renewable subject to the review. Professor B.S. Ghuman under this appointment is accorded the right to claim association with UFV, the right to use the title and right to supervise students. He will be provided internet access, an email account, library privilege and business cards. Whenever, he will visit UFV, he will be provided office space as well. Earlier Professor B.S. Ghuman has also been appointed as Senior Associate at Centre for Indo-Canadian Studies, UFV, British Columbia Canada. It is relevant to mention that Professor B.S. Ghuman has completed two Indo- Canadian research projects. The first project titled, “Livestock and Environment Sustainability: Experience of the Indian Punjab,” was funded by Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Canada. The Canadian partner institute was International Institute of Sustainable Development (IISD), Winnipeg. The second project titled “Canadian Model of Community Colleges: Lessons for Higher Education in India” was funded by Government of Canada. The partner institution was University of Fraser Valley, Abbotsford, B.C. Canada. He was also Member, Governing/Executive Council, Shastri-Indo Canadian Institute (SICI) – A bi-national body jointly financed by Governments of India and Canada, New Delhi/Calgary. He is Founder Coordinator of Canadian Studies Centre. Professor Ghuman has made six academic visits to Canada. Recently he has presented a paper titled, “Indo-Canadian Partnership in Higher Education: Unlocking the Potential” in a Roundtable on Higher Education: India/Canada Experiences organized by UFV in Chandigarh. He is also Associate of the Centre for Business and Public Sector Ethics, Cambridge, UK. In the Joint meeting of Academic and Administrative Committees of the Department of Public Administration, Professor B.S. Ghuman’s appointment as Adjunct Faculty was highly appreciated. The Committees unanimously resolved that this appointment has brought laurels and pride to the Department as well as to the Panjab University. Komal Singh Chairperson
