Profile of Senator-elect, Niger East Senatorial District Dr Nuhu Shem is currently the Chairman of the Board of The Leprosy Mission Nigeria, a position he has held for the past four years. He is also a member of TLMI Audit Committee. Shem committed his life to Jesus Christ when he was an undergraduate student in 1976. He has served as an elder of Evangelical Church Winning All, is a National Director of Full Gospel Business Mens Fellowship Nigeria and a member of Gideons International. Shem has served Niger State in Nigeria as Commissioner of Health for 10 years and was elected Deputy Governor of Niger State in 1999 and 2003 and served for eight years (two terms). He was appointed Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Council of University of Uyo in 2009 to 2013. Shem is currently the Chairman of Council of the National Health Insurance Scheme in Nigeria. He was elected a senator of the Federal Republic during last saturdays by-election.
