Property Tax Rebates, to Property Owners and Why? “Cemetery’s finances grave” by Craig Currier Antelope Valley Press Staff Writer, January 16, 2014, Thursday. Maybe the correct title should read: County Steal’s from the Dead – “Union Army Civil War veterans…” The question should be why does the County steal from the dead, especially against honorable Civil War Veterans who are resting permanently at the Lancaster Cemetery? Additionally, why Deceptive Property Taxation against Property Owners to fund the Lancaster Cemetery and yet funds are diverted, shifted i.e. redirected? January 16, 2014, according to Dave Owens, chairman of the Lancaster Cemetery “A 50-year operating agreement between the two expired in 2000.” January 14, 2011, in a prior conversation with a former Lancaster Cemetery Trustee, this is what the Trustee had to say: “We are a special district, voted on by the people in 1950. We had help from the county for 50 years (from 1950-2000) but not anymore. We are supposed to be receiving tax money, which we do (very little) but the money has been redirected for the last few years...” Lancaster Cemetery Trustee was prompted to answer questions by a few property owners (taxpayers) meaning my husband and myself after learning “…that our property taxes, and other persons who reside within Lancaster, the County, is assessing taxes against our property for the Lancaster Cemetery” among other taxes, that are deemed hidden taxes not even listed on our property tax bill. In reply to the former Lancaster Cemetery Trustee, this is what I said: If they are redirecting money for the Cemetery an official County document for Fiscal Year 2008-2009, shows that funds are still being deducted from my taxes, your taxes and ear marked for the Cemetery. If one keeps on researching one would also see that for year 2009-2010, the County is still continuing to earmark property taxes for the Cemetery that is deemed as a hidden property tax. For the County and the City of Lancaster to not disclose the taxation it is deemed a Hidden Property Taxation, without representation. Therefore, all property owners should receive a rebate on their property tax bill, because the County has been stealing from the dead and re-directed funds from the Lancaster Cemetery. The hidden taxation against property owner’s property is deceptive, because it is not disclosed as a taxing agency on property owner’s tax bill. You will only learn of the Cemetery taxation if you obtain a complete list of ALL” agencies taxing your property from the County Auditor Controller, like I (we) did in 2011. If it is a crime to remove a dead body from the Cemetery, shouldn’t it be a crime to steal from the dead Civil War Veterans and others, whose home is now a resting place at the Lancaster Cemetery? Question to you now County, since you have re-directed (diverted) funds from the Cemetery since approximately 2000 where did you put the money and where is the money? Two things should happen: (1) Rebate property owners their property tax, since taxes were not allocated to the Lancaster Cemetery from approximately the year 2000 to present, however charged against ALL property owners in the form of property taxes and (2) give the Cemetery the financial assistance needed for our fallen Civil War Veterans resting at the Lancaster Cemetery. RIP Civil War Veterans and others!
