And there was no water in the cistern, but only mud, and Jeremiah sank in the mud. Jeremiah 38:6 ESV Jeremiah probably looked around the pit that he was standing in as he sank into the mud and thought about all the promises that the Lord had given him. This certainly wasn’t one of them. The people that he was sent to speak to actually hated him and wanted to kill him. They threw him in an empty well and left him to die. The Lord got Jeremiah out and did fulfill his promises just as He had said that He would. Jeremiah just took a little detour along the way. Prophet In Training: P.I.T. Don’t get frustrated and give up when you find your self stuck in the mud like Jeremiah, or when the people that you are dealing with don’t like you. This is a temporary thing. The Lord will not abandon you.
