Protocol I want to take this time to commend the administration of the Institute of Commercial Aviation for the establishment and up keep of this Institution. Over the years, this institution has meaningfully contributed and is contributing to the human resource capacity in the Aviation sector of our country. Thanks to you the Students for taking advantage of this program. I hope others would emulate your example by seeking enrollment. Briefly this afternoon, let me speak to you on the theme: Leadership and its basic principles. Leadership by definition is the ability to guide, direct and influence people. As Student Leaders of this school, it would be expected of you to tailor your activities on the definition mentioned above. Don’t be rulers but provide guidance to your fellow colleagues. A true leader is not egocentric or self-centered; he works diligently so that those he leads can see the true leadership in him. Successful leaders over the world over are remembered for their accomplishment and impact their actions have on their followers. Their personal interests are subjected to the general benefit of the whole. Under the principle of true leadership what is owned by so many must at all times benefit them. When privileged few enjoys at the expense and disadvantage of so many it becomes frustrating and alarming. As leaders today you are seen as touch bearers of hope, inspirations and values. Emerging pillars of the leaders we hope for in years to come and model of generations to come only if you hold on to the true meaning of your existence. Remember that as leader, history will judge you if you failed to deliver to your fellow colleagues. Be an example and the others will follow your footstep. As a leader do not carry on divide and rule method. Work for everyone and bring everyone together as one family. As a leader you should also practice fairness, that is, there should be a high level of openness or transparency. You are accountable to the people and the need for regular updates on the status of this institution matters most. Create a platform to inform your Colleagues about activities surrounding the government. Don’t hide things from them. See yourselves as employees and not employers. By this way, your will easily achieve your platform. And to you the Students, you are under obligation to support your Leaders. Support them in all activities so as to bring proud to your Institution. Engage them constructively whenever if you observe that things are not in your interest. Without your support in all directions, they will not succeed. To the Administration, I want to appreciate you for giving the students the opportunity to exercise their democratic right in the school by electing their own Leaders. Please work along with this leadership for the betterment of the school. Collaborate to make the school better in years to come.
