Prov 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. This story helped me understand this verse...challenge for today, will I choose a merry heart or not? One little boy was never sad or angry, always happy, a joy to be around no matter what. The other complained, moaned and groaned about everything. One day their parents decided to see what it would take to make the miserable little boy happy and what it would take to make the happy little boy complain. They put them in separate rooms and in the one the put every imaginable toy a little boy could possibly want. In this room they put the complainer, surly they thought now he will be happy. In the other room they dropped a massive pile of manure and the happy little boy. For hours they watched their sons, the complainer complained about every toy, the train was red, not brown, the fire truck was not red, it was a tricycle not a bicycle and he continued complaining about every toy he picked up. In the other room the happy little boy sat with a big grin on his face and every now and then jumped up and down and squealed with delight. Hour after hour he would clap his hands and grin some more. Finally his parents brought him out and asked, “How can you be happy in that room?” “Are you kidding me?” he said with a grin from ear to ear, Why with a manure pile that big, there has got to be a pony around here!”
