Proverbs 17:22 . . . A merry heart doeth good [like] a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. Laughing may give your short-term memory a boost, according to new research. Study participants completed memory tests after either watching a funny video or sitting quietly for 20 minutes. Not only did the laughing group outperform their quiet peers, but saliva tests also showed that laughter had significantly lowered levels of a stress hormone called cortisol. Researchers explain that this reduction in stress hormones can lower blood pressure, boost immune system response, and change brainwave activity to improve memory.
