Proverbs 27:22 Though you pound a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, Yet his folly will not depart from him. A fool needs to be trained and severely disciplined before he becomes incorrigible. Note that this is fool #1, the simple minded fool who never learns his lessons. He doesnt listen. He doesnt do what he is told. He doesnt care. Proverbs 9:6 Forsake your folly and live, And proceed in the way of understanding. Proverbs 13:20 He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will suffer harm. Proverbs 22:15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of discipline will remove it far from him. Jeremiah 5:3 O LORD, do not Thine eyes look for truth? Thou hast smitten them, But they did not weaken; Thou hast consumed them, But they refused to take correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; They have refused to repent. אִ֥ם תִּכְתּֽוֹשׁ־אֶת־הָאֱוִ֙יל׀ בַּֽמַּכְתֵּ֡שׁ בְּת֣וֹךְ הָ֭רִיפוֹת בַּֽעֱלִ֑י לֹא־תָס֥וּר מֵ֜עָלָ֗יו אִוַּלְתּֽוֹ׃ פ Hebrew ἐὰν μαστιγοῖς ἄφρονα ἐν μέσῳ συνεδρίου ἀτιμάζων οὐ μὴ περιέλῃς τὴν ἀφροσύνην αὐτοῦ LXX Though thou scourge a fool, disgracing him in the midst of the council, thou wilt still in no wise remove his folly from him. LXE If thou dost beat the foolish in a mortar, Among washed things -- with a pestle, His folly turneth not aside from off him. YLT
