Proverbs 29:25, "The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe." (KJV) Many times people try to protect themselves from suffering rejection by pleasing men. They have irrational and baseless fears of all kinds of situations and circumstances. Among the strange fears they have is the fear of man. The fear of man is terrible as it leads to a more serious problem than rejection. The bible says the fear of man brings a trap. What is the purpose of a trap? A trap normally restricts or limits whoever is caught in it and once caught, it is extremely difficult to go free. A person who is caught in the trap of "the fear of man" has to do what others want, even against their own wishes in order to keep them from getting upset or feeling rejected again. We are not to allow this kind of emotional bondage in our lives. It cannot be conquered through flesh and blood but only by the help of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, if you find yourself feeling ensnared in the web of pleasing men, today can be your day for total victory. Call upon the Lord, confess to Him that you have allowed others to manipulate and to control you because of your own fears, because of your own pain, because of your own need and then decree that you will lean upon no other but the everlasting arms of a God who loves and cares for you continually.
