Psalm 11:2-7 The wicked are stringing their bows and fitting their arrows on the bowstrings. They shoot from the shadows at those whose hearts are right. 3 The foundations of law and order have collapsed. What can the righteous do?” 4 But the Lord is in his holy Temple; the Lord still rules from heaven. He watches everyone closely, examining every person on earth. 5 The Lord examines both the righteous and the wicked. He hates those who love violence. 6 He will rain down blazing coals and burning sulfur on the wicked, punishing them with scorching winds. 7 For the righteous Lord loves justice. The virtuous will see his face. When watching the news, talking to others and even from our own personal experiences, it seems at times that the wicked are prospering and never called to account. That may be the way that it seems but it is not so. The psalmist is asking what the righteous should do when all law and order have collapsed. Then we are reminded that the Lord is still in His holy Temple. He watches everyone and examines every person on earth. God hates those who love violence and He will punish them. Our righteous Lord loves justice. The virtuous will see His face. Psalm 37:1-2,7,9 Don’t worry about the wicked or envy those who do wrong. 2 For like grass, they soon fade away. Like spring flowers, they soon wither. 7 Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. 9 For the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust in the Lord will possess the land.
