Psalm 51:9-12 KJV [9] Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. [10] Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. [11] Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. [12] Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. James 4:10 KJV [10] Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. 1 John 4:4 KJV [4] Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Have you ever been in a state of mind that made it difficult to pray? Maybe anger. Maybe grief. Theres so many emotions that we as Gods creation will go through. Sometimes we even go through emotions for seemingly no reason at all...at least we women do. I cant speak for you men. Do you ever just feel ill and angry for no apparent reason? Like...if someone crossed your path, theyd know it😱....Come on yall! Tell me its not just me. My husband has been trying to figure me out for 20 years...haha! Sometimes I just get like that. I dont know why, and I cant help it! So last night...I was in a pickle. No real reason. Just tired I guess...thats my excuse anyway. I was headed to bed. Stopped by to tell the kids goodnight as I headed down the hallway. My son says, Mama, wait! We gotta pray first! So here I am lookin like I had been eating lemons...really sour lemons...lol...and now I have this kid who wants me to pray with him. What to do??? I said, Cain, would you please pray tonight? He said, Sure, Mama. ....and He did. The most beautiful prayer ever! I was so thankful! I think the enemy uses our emotions as a weapon against us, but if we will read Gods Word, we can see that The Holy Spirit is greater than the enemy and we can overcome it because of who dwells in us. If we are struggling for words because we are angry or whatever the case may be, we can go to God in silence. Say, Lord, Im struggling right now. I dont even have words. Just the very idea of humbling ourselves before Him is a start. We can also pray Davids prayer. David said.... Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. We know God heard that prayer from David, and He will hear it from us too. Yall...God loves us even when we are weak. The Scripture tells us that His strength is perfect in weakness. He doesnt expect perfection out of us, but what He does expect is an obedient heart. A heart willing to humble before Him. He understands our state of mind isnt always what we would choose it to be, but He allows us to feel these emotions for a reason. If we didnt, perhaps we would become prideful in our own strength. We are weak! And thats ok because He is not! I am soooo thankful my salvation doesnt rely on my emotions! Id be in trouble most days....🙈 God bless and happy Monday friends!!!!!
