Psalm 98 says Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music. Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy; let them sing before the Lord. This morning I was privileged to witness the Matsheumhlope river clapping its hands as it plunged over the spillway of the Upper The Hillside Dams | Bulawayo . I suppose for those who follow my posts but who do not live in Zimbabwe it may be hard to understand why we get so excited when rivers flow and dams fill up - the reason is because we dont take such things for granted in Matabeleland with it lying so close to the Kalahari. These are a few photographs taken early this morning showing this magical river and the two dams it fills in the very heart of Bulawayo. There are very few cities in the world which have such a magnificent natural park so close to the city centre. It is one of the things that makes Bulawayo so special. The Lower Dam is now filling fast and was already a third full just from in the overnight inflow - so if the rains continue it will fill quickly. With so much turmoil in Zimbabwe we thank the good Lord for showing us mercy this season through wonderful rains which have lifted our spirits despite the chaos. To all Bulawayo citizens - I recommend that you go and get some good nourishment for your soul at the Dams today.
