Public Service Announcement: (because I do not think I understood this until Stephen joined the military and have heard this mistake countless times since then...) Please note that Memorial Day and Veterans Day are two DIFFERENT holidays. Memorial Day is a day for remembering and honoring the brave men and women in the armed services who gave their life for this country whereas Veterans Day is a day to honor the men and women who have served in the armed services. SO...for instance, it would be appropriate to tell your friend or family member currently serving, Happy Veterans Day! Thank you for serving our country! however INappropriate to tell that same person Happy Memorial Day as they are (thankfully) still living. Please keep Memorial Day to honor those that are no longer here...the ones who literally gave up everything for our freedom.
