Public Service Announcement: business owners get hit up almost daily and sometimes multiple times per day for donations for various fundraisers. In spite of what some believe we do not get any tax write offs for these donations unless they are cash. So when donating gift cards, products and services that comes out of our own pockets and we have to pay for those items donated. No one gives me retail items to give away. Im not saying this to be hateful but to inform the general fundraising public who may not realize this. I am also a parent who gets hit up by my kids every time I turn around for school fundraisers just like everyone else too. When I say no I cant afford to donate at this time, please dont give me attitude. Im doing my best to keep my head above water and still be charitable.
