Public Service Post/TMI Post My opinion on doctor - TopicsExpress

Public Service Post/TMI Post My opinion on doctor feedback. I just sent this from my visit today: Hi Dr. X, While I appreciate your time at my visit this morning, I am emailing to also express my frustration with the visit. I was expecting to have a discourse on possible choices of treatment options. And, while that did happen, it was only after I self asserted and questioned you, after you were insistently informing me of what I should do. I googled Gabapentin. Part of my problem IS edema, a side effect is edema, hence not a good choice for that alone! My quality of life, despite my extreme pain flare ups, is pretty good, so going on a medication that will also cause known nausea, dizziness, and fatigue is counter intuitive to my current lifestyle of coping with exercise. I will go ahead and try the topical lidocaine and consider the corticosteroid injections, but for now I am distressed at your lack of concern for my quality of life versus pain reduction when insisting I take Gabapentin. I am proactive in my own care. I had a hysterectomy because I know Tamoxifen can cause secondary fatal uterine and/or endometrial cancer. I am also thoroughly aware that some of my frustration is at the complete lack of viable, healthy options to pain management, besides the modalities of self management that I have already found on my own. Thank you for your time and attention to my email. Best, Dara Insley Sent from my iPhone
